Pure foods, stimulants or ignorant

In Ayurvedic diet, foods are classified into three categories.

Clean foods nourish the body and keep it healthy. They calm and purify the mind. Pure foods include whole grains, fruits and vegetables, dairy products, seeds and legumes.

Stimulants foods promote the activity, but destroy the balance between body and mind by nourishing the body rather than the mind. Eaten in excess, these foods stimulate the body and too restless mind: spices, powerful herbs, coffee, tea, fish, meat, cheese, eggs, salt and chocolate.

Ignorant foods are good neither for the body nor the mind. They weaken the intellectual capacity and the body less resistant to external aggressions. The mind is then flooded with negative emotions. Among the ignorant foods: alcohol, fermented foods, chips or hamburgers should be avoided whenever possible.

Select food according to taste

That is sweet: in Ayurvedic diet, sweet builds and strengthens the tissues of the body, animates a feeling of pleasure and satisfaction, is good for skin, hair and senses. It is found in simple sugars, starches, oils and fats. Eaten in excess, these foods can cause obesity, however, dyspepsia, unconsciousness, diabetes or malignant tumors ...

What is sour: according to the criteria of Ayurveda, sour is good for the heart and helps digestion. It helps your body eliminate and increased salivation. Sour taste found in fruit acids, acid vegetables, wine and fermented foods. Warning, if consumed in excess, these foods can cause dizziness, loss of strength, itching or irritation, paleness, swelling, thirst and fever ...

What is salty: salty clears obstructions channels and pores, enhances digestive activity and salivation, lubricates and makes you sweat penetrates the tissues and improves the taste. It is found in salty minerals and seafood. The abuse of salt, can cause baldness, gray hair, wrinkles, thirst, skin diseases, blood disorders and loss of strength.

What is intriguing: the spiciness is digestive and improves the taste. The pungent foods include garlic, onion, herbs and spices. Eaten in excess, pungent foods can cause thirst, pain in the waist and back.

What is bitter: bitter cleans the mouth. It is known to treat worms, bacteria, parasites, thirst, skin diseases, fevers, nausea and burning sensations. Consumed in excess, foods with a bitter taste may deplete tissues.

What is astringent: astringent cleans the blood, heals ulcers and absorbs water. Astringent taste is found in bananas, pomegranates, chickpeas, cabbage ... Eaten in excess, these foods can cause flatulence, weight loss, constipation and obstruction of channels.
