Football does not just kick a ball and make sure he comes into the goal. It's a tactical game which a lot of rules to be drawn up. When the students at Camp Bridge in 1848 started to play, they had absolutely no idea of the rules of their sport would change so much in the course of time.

The field

The field should always be rectangular, and the official size are set by FIFA. For national competitions the field between 90 and 120 m long and between 45 and 90 meters wide. For international matches FIFA explains that the length of between 100 and 110 m and its width must be between 64 and 75 m. The field is marked with white lines forming an integral part of the field. A ball falls on the line is not outside. The lines must be 12 cm wide. In the middle of the field is located the center circle with a radius of 9,15m. In the four corners of the field is a flag of 1,50m indicating the way to the corners and the pitch perfect boundary.

The box

This space is for the purpose 16,50m 40,32m wide and long. In the middle of the targets at a distance of 11m from the line is the penalty spot on which the ball should be placed in a box. Outside the box is a half circle with a radius of 9,15m. Within this rectangle, we also find the target area that extends to 5.50m on both sides of the poles, and 5.50 for the goal line. In this line, the goal kick is given.

The target

The goals are 7,32m long and 2,44m high. The horizontal and vertical poles must be as thick. The posts should be white so they are clearly visible even from afar. The net must be securely fastened so that the goalkeeper can not interfere in any way.

The ball

The ball will apply very strict rules. You can not play with a ball that is too large or is not inflated enough. Actually, only the color and patterns freely. Goalkeepers are therefore often surprised: they are barely used to the optical effects of the motifs on the ball and they are confronted by a different competition with different effects. The ball should at least have a circumference of between 68 and 70 cm. At the start of the game, the ball between 410 and 450 grams, and the pressure must always have to be between 600 and 1100 g are the square cm. If the ball during the game is damaged, the race is stopped and it is also playing with a ball on the ground. Only the referee decides whether the ball must be replaced.

Number of players

The matches will be played with two teams of 11 players. If an un the two teams less than seven players, the game can continue under any circumstances. During official matches but no more than three players may be replaced. In friendly matches both teams may change this number and allow more replacements provided both teams agree with the number of replacements and the referee as they notify the contest. Before the start of the match must be handed to the referee a competition form in which each team 11 players are and the names of the possible reserves during the match.

The referee must be informed of a change by his linesman who got the fourth official the information that the coach of one of the teams want to do a replacement. The game is stopped and the new player may only come on the pitch as the player he is replacing has gone off. This replacement is done at the height of the centerline. Also, remember that a player who has once left the field may no longer come back.

The clothes

Even the clothes of the players is regulated. The clothing of a footballer must meet the following requirements:
  • A shirt in a color that is distinctly different from that of the counterparty
  • A short
  • Long stockings
  • Shin guards
  • The goalkeeper must wear a jersey that distinguishes him sufficiently from the other players and the referees. For official matches all players must stabbing their shirts into their pants and they may take off any clothing before the competition's final whistle. Therefore a player who has scored a goal and his shirt to celebrate it sometimes turns out a yellow card.

Duration of the match

A soccer game is composed of two halves of 45 minutes each. Between the two halves of the player get a break. That break must never be longer than 15 minutes. In practice, take all events longer than 90 minutes because the referee the game every now and then shuts down before the end of the race. These minutes can be used to make up for lost time replacements or injuries. They are also used when a player is aware of the time to racks to ensure the score of his team. This form of unfair play is compensated at the end of the match.

The start of the race

For each match, the two captains and the referee fate decide who will start. They will use a coin. We call this "toss". The winning player decides in which half his team can play. The players will all take their place and the ball is placed on the center spot. Two players start the match by a pass giving forward. The other players must keep at least 9,15m away.

The goal

A goal is only valid if the ball completely crosses the goal line. Never forget that the line is part of the field. So if the ball touches the white line is not a valid goal.

This is without doubt the complicated rule in football. In summary, a player is offside if he receives a pass while he is closer to the goal line of the opposing goal than the last defender. To be offside whistle you have to perform an action, so a direct or indirect impact on the course of action. If, for example 1 m from the goal line is offside and the action happens on the penalty spot is no offside whistle. If you get the ball in your own half you never stand offside. The same applies if an opponent gives you the ball or when you are on the same line as the last defender. Finally, one last peculiarity of this rule: there can never be any question of offside from a throw-in and of course not at a corner.

The referee awards a direct free kick, a player of the opposing voluntarily, by clumsiness or carelessness by making one of the following errors:
  • Hard to call an opponent
  • An opponent kick or attempt to kick
  • Jump on an opponent
  • Strike or attempt to strike an opponent
  • An opponent push aside
  • A trip up opponents or attempt
  • Stop or block an opponent
  • Spit an opponent
  • An opponent insult
  • Touching the ball with his hand
A goalkeeper may make violation, namely:
  • Hold the ball for more than 8 seconds in his hands
  • The ball back into his hands as he laid on the ground which once
  • The ball in his hands after taking a voluntary pass to the foot of one of his teammates. But he has the right to catch the ball, the player gives a pass to the head or chest.

Penalties: the cards

FIFA has imposed a number of rules, the referees must give a yellow or red card. But the referee decides on the field or someone deserves a card or a warning.
a player can receive a yellow card if he:
  • Is guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct
  • The decisions of the referee too challenging
  • Makes several errors
  • The game slows deliberately
  • Not voluntarily respects the legal distance imposed by the referee for a free kick or a corner kick
  • Voluntarily leave the field without the referee's permission (for example, if an attacker runs to the stands after he scored a goal
a player can get a red card if he:
  • Making a grave mistake
