History of the guinea pig

The guinea pig is fat little round rodent which has such great appeal to children. Everybody knows this humored companion where absolutely no malice can be found.

Origin of the guinea pig

The guinea pig is native to South America. Even at this stage it is difficult to see them in the wild. They are shy animals in groups of 5 to 10 animals live and find their shelter in caves. These burrows they dig themselves or they use the abandoned burrows of other animals. Especially those of tuco-tuco with them very popular. The guinea pig is especially active during the day and they do virtually everything together as a group. As a rule they seek their burrows in dry, grassy areas and avoid them the Amazon delta, where rainforests are found mostly.
A piece of history
