At the time of menopause, three in four women suffer from hot flashes. To calm, there is no alternative that hormones. Overview of what works or not.

A survey of the North American Menopause Society summarizes the effective remedies to fight against hot flashes in menopause, without taking HRT.

What are the therapies that work?

The US study revealed seven opportunities with good results:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy includes relaxation techniques, restorative sleep, which also affects the mind to think positive things.
  • The hypnosis or meditation.
  • In case of overweight and body mass index greater than 24.9, a loss of a few kilos can also reduce the intensity of hot flashes.
  • Reducing stress by adequate therapies.
  • Taking S-equol, an organic compound of soybean, belonging to the flavonoids.
  • The prescription of selective inhibitors of serotonin reuptake as paroxetine, an antidepressant.
  • Prescribing reuptake inhibitors of norepinephrine serotonin, which are antidepressants.
