Quit smoking?? It's one of the good intentions, if not one of the wishes of many Dutch. Few of them manage to make this wish come true. The wish is there, now the perseverance yet. Why catch many people off this last point? Well, quitting smoking is at war!

Stop? Why?

Meanwhile, the old slogan, but the truth does not lie. Prevention is better than cure. Of smoking for years, even decades, announced that it is bad for your health and everything that comes with it. Probably ask you if non-smoker wonder why anyone at all then start much misery. Well, many people smoke because they think it's cool. Often you see the presence of these groups cause in adolescents. If one starts smoking, the rest is almost automatically participate. The second group of smokers smoke because they wont find it tasty. Just relax, just a good cigarette. Sooner or later many smokers out that she still would like to quit smoking. Most of them thinks to do it anyway because of health reasons, even though the effects on his health had long been known before he started smoking. Financial reasons and better condition come in second and third place.
Deciding to quit smoking is one thing, now the execution yet. In other words, you have mastered the theory, now practice yet, but this is not so easy. In implementing the plan to stop smoking, is a look at three things. The following topics are physical dependence, psychological dependence and failures discussed.

Physical dependence

The culprit of all addiction is nicotine. Many smokers can not do without, and if it were entirely dependent on this substance. At a break in the smoking behavior causes nicotine withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, nervousness, difficulty concentrating, headaches, sleep disturbances, and increased appetite. These symptoms reach a peak during the first two weeks of smoking cessation. After these two weeks, the withdrawal symptoms take it off, but they do not go away. Smoking remains an irresistible temptation for weeks, even months can continue to play out.

Psychological dependence

The psychological dependence on nicotine is less visible than physical dependence, but no less strong. Among the psychological dependence, we mean the portion of the addiction that takes place, as it were in the head of the smoker. In this psychological dependence play a number of factors are involved: pleasure, habit and outcome. The cigarette is for many a stimulant, strongly linked with the pleasant moments of life. In addition, many smoking a cigarette because it has become a habit, lighting up as it were automatically. The cigarette is inherent in a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, a phone call or a chat with friends. And then there's the cigarette as a means of support and outcome: the cigarette raised by sadness, fatigue and stress.

Failure to failure to failure ...

And as if the physical and psychological dependence is not yet tedious and difficult enough, there also exists the phenomenon that 'failure' calls. Quitting smoking is a huge stretch, especially when several attempts for it to be done. Multiple attempts? Yes, stop smoking succeed, often not at once. The old pattern of life is enormously attractive and therefore the risk of relapse big! The big problem is that it is more difficult after each failed attempt to stop believing that it can be truly realized.

In short

Quitting smoking is a huge task that many smokers fog along in danger of being in the form of a relapse into the old pattern of living and smoke. Therefore it is extremely important for the smokers that a relapse is seen not so much as a failure, but as a moment where can be learned for the next attempt. And for all non-smokers, prevention is still better than cure!
