The spark plug is a component of the ignition system of a fuel engine. The spark plug provides an electrical spark which leaves off controlled ignite the fuel-air mixture in the cylinder, in turn, to generate as motive power. A spark plug wear and once in a while they have to be replaced, can perform a job that you fine yourself. Fun to do and it saved something on the car costs. Spark plugs are averaged thirty thousand kilometers checked, however, you notice that the engine is not running as smoothly or less smooth on the throttle reacts can not hurt to look again at the spark plugs.  The described method is tailored to the technology of Subaru, since these cars on a few exceptions, are equipped with a boxer engine are the spark plugs slightly to achieve a tougher place than, say, an engine with cylinders in line or V-shape . The replacement of the spark plug itself does work and, if the same is to use this explanation partly fine for all vehicles that make use of one or more spark plugs. Be careful when replacing that all spark plugs installed in the engine have the same degree of heat.

The preparation

Spark plugs Replace your best when the engine is cold, when the engine is hot, set off metal and are the spark plugs too tight. Moreover, it does not really comfortable with the heat close to your hands. To reach the spark plugs properly, it is useful to create more workspace, either by removing the container for the windscreen and the air filter. Also, the battery can still be removed, only the battery bracket nuts will still sit down to loosen stuck and break. Because of the position of the spark plugs on the side ?? ?? of the engine, the use of a traditional spark plug wrench is not really convenient. The handle is a bit too short, and the space between the valve cover and chassis gives little space to put power.

  • Spark Plug; Looks like an ordinary long cap but inside a rubber ring that clamps onto the spark plug.
  • Steel tube or something.
  • Wrenches various sizes

State of the spark plugs

Used spark plugs are dirty, but the level of pollution will give you useful information about the condition of the engine and whether it could be better to go a different kind of spark plug to use.

carbon deposits
oil deposits
Overheating
Normal
A spark plug with a brown to grayish deposits and slight electrode wear indicate that the spark plug is the correct heat range and is normally used. As long as the point is not yet worn spherical, it is still not necessary to replace it. Remove the deposits with a fine wire brush is sufficient to use the spark plug.
Carbon Attack
Often at low speeds in city driving, weak ignition, too rich fuel mixture or a dirty air filter provide a dry dust-like deposits on the spark plug. In many cities is advisable to use spark plugs with a higher heat range.
Oil Attack
Wet black deposit is a result of too much oil supply in the combustion chamber. Possible reasons for this are worn piston rings and pistons or excessive clearance between the valve guides and steal. Do you see no improvement after repair, use spark plugs with a higher heat range.
Overheating
If the insulator has a white or light gray color with black or gray brown spots and bluish burnt electrodes, this is a sign of overheating. It may also have an incorrect adjustment of the ignition of the spark plug may be loose. A wrong choice of fuel or too hot spark plug can also cause this condition of the spark plug. It is advisable to use spark plugs with lower heat setting.

Disassembly

Tank and air filter
First, create detach the earth cable from the battery when servicing the car, this prevents a possible short circuit during the work to the engine and personal injury. To create working space and air filter are removed from the windshield washer reservoir. At the top of the reservoir there are two bolts, unscrew. Slowly pull up the reservoir, clean the plug of the pump and remove the hose from the nipple on the pump. The car also has a wiper on the rear and / or headlight washers, then pull out the plugs and hoses of these pumps. Some liquid will run off there, put the container with the pumps as high as possible or disconnect the nipples. The two halves of the air box down with clamps, they click all four open. The top half is with four screws attached to the suction tube, tighten the screws and collect the two brackets with welded nuts on the inside. Place the top half of the air box to the side and take the panel filter. The underside is secured by two bolts on the chassis, unscrew and remove the container from that side up. The other side is a piece of pipe slid disappearing beneath the fender, with some pressure, the filter apart from this tube. Also explain the lower half of the tank at the end.
WATCH OUT! Between the suction tube and air filter box has a rubber ring mounted in a groove. This rubber is loose in there, keep it well as this rubber ensures an airtight connection.
Spark plugs solve
Remove spark plug wire from the spark plug by pulling the cap that sits on the plug, not the cable itself. Does the car instead of spark plug wires coil on plug ?? a ??, then tighten the bolt of the ignition coil and pull the entire coil off the spark plug. If this is difficult in relation to a frame member which is in the way, disconnect the plug from the ignition coil and turn the coil around until you get enough slack to remove it.
Put the extension of the ratchet on the spark plug and place it along the spark plug, do it by hand so that you can feel how the cap clamps around the spark plug. Place the ratchet of the rod and tighten the spark plug counterclockwise. If this fails, put with some force, then you extend the handle of the ratchet with a steel pipe or something. Once you loose check the condition of the spark plug and whether or not to continue using.

Mount

Tighten spark plugs
Push the spark plug in the spark plug with extension and place it by hand in the cylinder head. Tighten the spark plug carefully clockwise order not to damage the thread, this should go effortlessly. Once you have put all power in the beginning, the spark plug is skewed, stop immediately and try again. Once the manual tightening will not further you turn the ignition the last piece with the ratchet, do not use extension tube and do not put too much force, is firmly fixed.
Tank and air filter
Keep the reservoir above the place where it belongs and connect hoses and connectors. At the bottom of the reservoir there is a protrusion that falls in a recess of the chassis. Pressure reservoir and tighten the two screws. The lower part of the air box is first slid over the tube at the mudguard and fixed put. Then tighten the two bolts in the chassis to lock the container. The upper part is attached to the suction tube with four screws, making sure that the rubber ring is left in place for a good seal. Place the panel filter and close the container with the four terminals. Look carefully all connections among the suction tube after, there is sometimes a snake will be propelled with the result that the engine will not start or or very bad running. Connect the ground cable to the battery again and drive the vehicle.
